Andy Scott talks about the Foxboy sculpture, September 2009
|d|
Our Chairman Les asked Andy Scott, the sculptor of Foxboy, why our sculpture is dark when all the others [in Clackmannanshire] are silver. This is his answer.
'The Foxboy sculpture was coated differently as an aesthetic decision on my behalf. As he is not sited in such an inaccessible location as the middle of roundabout, I wanted to give him a deeper lustre finish so had him powder-coated as well as galvanized. I had hoped this made it a bit more interesting on closer inspection. The coating is a hammered "antique" silver finish. This also makes the sculpture more durable as I was a wee bit worried about kids maybe climbing on it.'
