Fete Week and Gala Day 2010
Well, that's another very successful Fete Week and Gala Day tucked away for another year. From the comments I have received, everyone enjoyed all aspects of the week's activities.
I won't go into detail about each event, just to say that all of our events were well attended and appreciated, the highlight being Gala Day which saw even more people enjoying the day.
I hope that all our stallholders had a good day. After all it can be a major fund raiser for volunteer groups and charities.
I think I had the most comments about the Woodland Orchestra. Henry came down and spent a couple of days with the Primary School teaching them the instruments and getting them ready to perform on Gala Day.
Of course not all is plain sailing. I received a text message at 6.00am on Gala Day to say that our big children's rides would not be arriving as the operator's clutch had gone in his van, but at that late stage there's not a lot you can do!
May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who assisted during the week and on the day: Without you it would not happen; all are volunteers (well maybe press-ganged); and all the profits from the stall run by the Gala Committee go to Gala Funds.
We collected a number of names of people who are interested in helping in the woodlands. We will be in touch.
Have a great summer and, as always, 'Get involved!'
