Report from our Community Policeman, July 2008
Police Constable Stephen Currie writes ...
As far as police activity in the Menstrie area is concerned there has been very little crime reported of late. A few minor acts of vandalism continue to occur and I would like to request the assistance of the Menstrie community in helping to resolve these issues. Sometimes a small detail is all the police need to solve a crime and by passing information to us. No matter how small, it could make all the difference.
Could I also ask that you are all taking care to lock your cars when they are left unattended even outside your house or in your drive. Please also make sure that valuable items like Satellite navigation devices and mobile phones are out of sight if left in the vehicle. Better still take them with you. There have been several thefts in the Clackmannanshire area in recent weeks from insecure vehicles. Don't let it be yours.
On a more positive side, I am pleased to report that following concerns raised by members of the community regarding parking issues at Menstrie Primary School, I have consulted with Clackmannanshire Council and have been advised by them that new double yellow zig-zag lines will be in place at the school entrance before the start of the new term. I will be patrolling around the school and enforcing these parking restrictions if required. Hopefully this will lead to a much safer environment for the pupils attending the school.
Finally I would like to wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer.
