Welcome to Menstrie
Shorter opening hours for Dumyat Community Centre
From the beginning of May, opening times during the week for Dumyat Community Centre will be limited to:
- mornings (9 am - 1 pm) Monday, Wednesday and Friday;
- afternoons (1 pm - 5 pm) Tuesday and Thursday;
- evenings (5 pm - 9 pm) of all the weekdays listed above.
Opening times on Saturday are not yet decided: The Centre will be closed on Sundays.
Dumyat Community Centre houses the local library and the Community Access Point (CAP).
Julie Barr of Clackmanananshire Council explained to the Community Council, at their meeting on 12th March, that the reduced opening hours in the Centre are due to financial constraints and lack of footfall through the doors. Long term lets will be honoured, she said.

Proposed forestry in the hills above Menstrie
UPM Tilhill (the forestry company) are proceeding with their plan for commercial forestry in the hills above Menstrie.
In January 2013 they hosted a meeting with the Forestry Commission, Clacks and Stirling Councils, Friends of the Ochils, and others, to agree the list of issues to be addressed in an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
A summary of UPM's report from the meeting is available on this site, as is their report in full as a PDF document.
UPM expect to submit the EIA to the Forestry Commission in mid-June. If the Forestry Commission is satisfied the plan will be made available, probably in July, for public consultation and comment allowing 28 days for comments to be lodged with the Forestry Commission.
