SNP events coming up

Bingo Tea

A Bingo Tea is being organised for Friday 10th February, eyes down at 7.00pm in the Dumyat Centre. Home baking and great raffle; supported by Menstrie SNP.

Woodland Treasure Hunt

Menstrie SNP invites families along to a Woodland Treasure Hunt, on Sunday 11th March at 2.00-3.30pm.

Come along with the kids and take part in our Treasure Hunt, meeting at the Scout Hall then tumbling through the woods to find clues and flags, all towards getting a prize at the finish. Over 50 prizes to be won, juice and hot soup at the end.

Have some fun and get to meet your local SNP candidates for this year's Council Election.

Wear strong footwear and old clothes as this could get messy!

Beware cash-card skimmers

Police have issued a warning after card-skimming devices were found on three cash machines in Central Scotland. One was in Tullibody.

Skimming machines read the details on bank cards and mini-cameras are used to capture the customers' PINs as they type them in.

Here's a link to a web site showing some pictures of skimming machines showing just how cunningly unobtrusive these devices can be. View images of a skimming device. (This is a USA website: Images of the devices found in Central Scotland have not been published).

Police advise anyone who notices anything suspicious at any cash dispenser, or people loitering in the area, to contact the bank.

Read the text of the Police advice and the news item on the BBC website.

H1 Bus Service: Menstrie to Forth Valley Royal Hospital

USE IT OR LOSE IT!

Linda Matheson writes:

I have asked the Transport Manager for FVR Hospital if there is any difference in the usage of the H1 bus now that it comes through the village. I am pleased to report that there is a 56% increase in people using the bus. Probably not all coming from Menstrie but it makes it a much more viable route for them.

When the route was surveyed from April 18th to 24th, 379 people used the service. When the survey was repeated from October 3rd to 9th, after the bus was coming into the village, 619 used the service.

The revenue to the company has nearly doubled in the second period. If this continues and we are able to build on it, it is looking more positive that we will retain this service in the future.

It runs every 2 hours. The first bus at is at 06.40am at Windsor Street and thereafter every two (even) hours and will pick up through the village. The journey to Alloa takes 15 minutes and you can be at the hospital in 38 minutes. The last bus from the hospital is 19.35pm arriving in Alloa at 20.03 and back to the village by 20.18.

Public Partnership Forum: Your voice in the NHS

The next meeting of the PPF will be on February 14th 2012 in the Whins Resource Centre, Alloa, at 7pm till 9pm. Refreshments will be served from 6.30pm.

The main topic for debate at this meeting is "The Scottish Ambulance Service".

Their Representatives will be there to discuss the changes that will take place at the beginning of 2012 in the Ambulance and Patient Transport Service covering Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire.

There have been a lot of requests from the public for this topic so it is hoped there will be a good response from the people of Clackmannanshire.
