Letters to The Community Council
Christian Aid Week, 2009
During Christian Aid Week, the community of Menstrie raised the sum of £3,042.60.
This amount was raised by various activities in the village including a soup lunch and a sponsored walk around Gartmorn Dam followed by a barbecue. Every home in Menstrie was visited by volunteers with collecting cans, raising a total of £1116.11.
Christian Aid is a British charity which helps support local communities in around 50 of the world's poorest countries to find their own solutions to the problems they face. Given that £45 can fund a teacher's salary in India for a month or £30 can buy 5 rainwater harvesters in Bangladesh, this amount will go a long way to help transform the lives of many people less fortunate than ourselves.
A huge 'thank you' to everyone in Menstrie who donated so generously.
