Menstrie Scout Group
Centenary celebrations come to a close
|d|
The last twelve weeks have been exceptionally busy for the Group as we
come to the end of our centenary celebrations. The exhibition in early
September was very well attended with people coming from as far afield
as Edinburgh and Ayr as well as from all parts of the county. We hope the
many aspects of the exhibition indicated the wide range of activities which
provide fun, challenge and adventure to all those involved in Scouting.
The archival part of the exhibition provoked many reminiscences from former
scouts reliving those camps, hikes and other activities of 10, 20, 30 and 40
years ago.
Lights and fireworks
The torchlight procession and fireworks display was a great success with the Group receiving many complimentary messages from appreciative villagers. We had some anxious moments in the afternoon as bad weather threatened to cancel the event. However, with the rain going off in the early evening, the hard work of the previous two weeks brought its reward with a thoroughly memorable occasion. We have many pictures of the procession but lack one of the '100' taken from the village. If you have an image of this and can provide a copy please 'phone 761465.
