Menstrie Scout Group
Summer session
|d|
Easter and the start of the camping season is always a time of great excitement for the
scouts in the troop. This year however, because of the cold and very wet weather in the
week before Easter, the scouts did not go to the Third Glen campsite and instead set up
patrol campsites on the grass behind the H.Q. A full programme of scoutcraft and
campcraft activities was enjoyed by all the scouts on the hill and in the wood,
culminating in an excellent camp fire at the Toll Rocks. We did however get to the Third
Glen site on the Sunday for our traditional Easter Scouts Own service and Great Easter
Egg hunt.
Recently our District Camping Competition patrol - P.L. Abby Shiels; A.P.L. Hannah MacLean; James Petrie; Adam Peel; Ewan Ireland and Abbi Armitage - won the District Shield after a weekend of competition activities at the Barrwood Campsite near Denny.
The Cubs and Beavers have been enjoying the recent good spell of weather taking their weekly activities out onto the nearby hills and wood.
Our very special thanks to all the members of the community who supported our recent Summer Fayre when, on a very sunny Friday evening, just over £900.00 were added to Group funds.
If you are aged between 6 years and 14 years then come along and join the adventure.
